 A computer network, or. data network, is a digital telecommunications network which allows nodes to share resources.in computer networks, computing devices exchange data with each other using connections (data links) between nodes.these data links are established over cable media such as wires or optic cables or wireless media such as wifi. Nodes are identified by network addresses and can include hosts such as personal computers, phones ,servers as well as networking hardware. computer networks support an economics number of applications and services such as access to the world wide web,digital video,digital audio shared use of application and storage servers,printers, and fax machine and use of email and instant messaging applications as well as many others.

The word computer originates from the word "computer" which means to calculate. earlier computer was considered as a calculating device that could perform arithmetic operation at enormous speed.but now, amazing 85% of work done in computer is  of  nonnumerical nature like music composing, special effects, resume sorting, weather forecasting, nuclear researcher etc.  
computer is  an advance electronic device that takes raw data as input from the user and processes it under the control of set of instructions (called program), gives the result (output), and saves it for the future use.
